I think, my favorite comment of Cassie (about Jace) was at B+N last month, when someone asked for the millionth time where she came up with the idea. And she smiled and shrugged saying "I don't know why 'I made him up' isn't a good enough answer."
Fictional men being awesomner than all is not rare or uncommon. Quite frankly it pays the bills so why deny it.
that's a beautiful thing! I'm glad your FCBD was a success (mine wasn't nearly as lucky ) Everywhere I went was Super crazy or they didn't even order it, which was hella-disappointing. Dispiriting even.
There isn't a release date yet but there is a sort of... consideration lull. It's hard to explain. I'll probably add it to the Journal entry in a bit cuz its sort of important to production turn around even if it seems really trivial.
me too- especially after hearing from the many people who had less successful ventures. It made me pretty happy when the guy said "we should have all of them... I think it's the flip on "the stuff of legend" *flips over* yeah! here it is!
ouch, that really bites. assuming this happens again next year, maybe i'll be able to pick up some extra copies to send out.
This looks...amazing. I'm so glad you and Cassie have finally managed to get a project like this off the ground. I remember the days of being poised and checking for the latest chapter of the Draco Trilogy to come out and fanart to appear on ohshush.com. And its great that an original work has gotten published, has bestseller status and everything. Can you tell me if you know that your amazingness is going to be distributed to the UK as well? Through the FCBD website I found a comicbook store near me, and wanted to check that it'd be stocking it for the day
It's a wonder, no, a privliedged to hear form people who've been around for the long haul. It has been a weird and long road and I'm happy to know that it isn't near an end any time soon.
...But as far as the publication info, I'm not in the loop. I asked a couple of people and got a couple of different answers. So, since I'd hate to misinform you I recommend you ask ~th3rdworld, as he is editor/boss-man and would be much more "in the know" than me.
Either way, I'll keep asking permission to share things here. And I promise to re-post whatever they'll let me.
A sampler [first 10-pages] of the comic will be given away free, on a 1st-come-1st-served basis, until supplies run out. What you do with it after picking one is up is between you and your God
It's pretty much just the Pandemonium scene, which is an awesome scene, illustrated awesomely! (Don't think I can abuse that adjective enuff )
One of the many reasons why new comics get promoted this way is for the publisher to drum up interest. I've seen comics premiere @FCBD and putter out. And I've seen other titles premiere @FCBD and become viral. But for the excitable fan or the collector at heart its worth getting, CUZ it shows the publishers fans want more so they should make more, AND its a limited printing and subject to change, which makes it rare.
You get to the store, there's usually a line leading to a table. When you get to the table there is a spread and either the store will already have them pre-packed, give you a bag and you move along... or sometimes they leave them all splayed out and you have to pick which titles you want. Aside from the line, its over in less then two minutes and relatively painless. But its only one-per-customer... which is why I used hit more than one comic shop. Nowadays I just have my cousin who works there hold them on the side for me
That is ...so much more information than you asked for. Pardon my word-vomit
~ThirdWorld says once its up in the shop, and you're willing to pay shipping, they'll make it available any/everywhere. I mean it won't be as convenient as being able to get one at the local shop but it isn't as dire as not making it available at all.
It is in the process of being made for release later in the year; first in single issue format and then collected into a graphic novel(s).
In all honesty, this was always a venue Cassie & I intended to pursue. Even before City of Bones was ever put to print, we waxed lyrically about making it into a comic/manga, over sushi and sake' on the bowels of Brooklyn. It's more than amazing to see it come to light, even from my fly on the wall vantage point.
It wouldn't feel right without them. Don't mean the cover, I mean in the Universe of TMI. It'd feel like negligence on my part otherwise... hopefully the New Runes will be done before the first of May.
And as for "Awesome". Yes, it is. It is an awesome concept, awesome rendition, with awesome art and awesome panels [and Jace's doing some awesome 'finger-quotes' therein] so much awesome dunno if ten-pages can contain it. Haven't even seen it in color yet. Can.Not.Wait.
